Hi All

I have a Diana 34 (.177) and I am troubleshooting a problem which seems erratic. The POI seems to shift after every shot and I have had 2 scopes on it with the same result. I have checked all screws and adjusted the trigger (T05) take up plus used sand bags to try and eliminate myself as the cause. I can adjust scope based on shot placement until it hits dead centre and then it seems to just shoot high, low or off side with no predictability.

The correction adjustments are usually 1-4 inches in whatever direction. I have inspected the muzzle and it looks just fine with no visible markings.

Anyone have a suggestion or similiar past experience?

Is the barrel lock-up tight ? Have you run a brass brush thru the bore ? As geologist said, are you using Artillery Hold or 'holding tight' ? What quality of ammo are you using ? What scope are you using - I've killed 'regular scopes'. You need an 'airgun scope' that can take the 2-stage recoil.

Thanks - will try both suggestions and post results

A springer air rifle like the 34, is very hard on scopes due to the two way recoil. As well, you need solid rings to hold position in the grooves. I use the Hawke scopes and good rings from Airgun Source, on my air rifles.

I think the 34 is a break-barrel action. As such, maybe it isn't locking up the barrel consistently. Since the scope is on the 'receiver' and the barrel is hinged off the end of the 'receiver', the barrel can be pointing somewhat differently from shot to shot, while the scope maintains a fixed alignment. If the barrel lockup is loose enough it could point to a slightly random point every shot.
