Did the CFC screw up?

I am really utterly confused right now.

I mailed away my PAL/RPAL application a month and a bit ago. CFC reports it was received on the 4th of last month.

As of today (maybe sooner, but I havn't checked in a few days) my license has been apparently issued and put in the mail.

Yay, fine and dandy, right?

A few things seem strange: last I checked, there was a 30 day waiting period to get a license, and as of my count it has only been 29 days, and I have never heard of a license being spat out that fast, especially for an RPAL.

I was also never contacted by the CFC for questioning regarding my license, which I was told happened for ever issued RPAL; mind you, I didn't think to ask my references if they had been called yet.

Is there something not right, or is my PAL+RPAL the fastest one in recent history?

Will my license status be changed to "issued and sent" if they for some reason will not issue me a license, and are just sending a "Please play again" card?

actually mine came in around 35 days but i was also never contacted by them and my references are my mom and sister and they never contacted them!

Also at the place were i bought my first restricted gun they told me that they would call the references when i bought it but they never did!
So right now i'm at my 4th restricted handgun and they never called anyone!

I heard that they do all the checking during the 28 day waiting period so there is no reason why it shouldn't be issued on the 29th day. I think it just depends on how many applications they are dealing with at the time. I hope mine comes that quick:D

My buddy and I mailed our PAL/RPAL applications on the same day. His got here in 18 days. I had extra paperwork to do so my screw up will take some extra time. It would be nice if this would become the norm

But you didn't get it in the 30 days. So what if it has been issued, you still don't have it, so you are still waiting.

Another thought. Is this a new licence or a renewal? If it is a renewal then there is no waiting period.

It's a new license. I am just amazed at how quickly it was issued.

I usually hear horror stories of people waiting 2 months and the CFC has nothing to show for it.

I guess it's time to break out the party hats. I'm just happy it happened in time for the sks shipment from Frontier :D

It's a ploy.

They give it to you really quick the first time. Then they take 6 months for your first restricted transfer. Just kidding (I hope)

Congrats on your PAL

I got my RPAL and ATT stuff quickly, but a young guy who did his course at the same time took forever to get his RPAL. I guess if your a certain vintage and profile they don't feel the need to check.

I took my PAL/RPAL course when I was 17, and had to wait until I turned 18 to mail it away

I guess I really am lucky after all. I'd better not go poking around and give them an excuse to change their minds, heh.

+1 I had to go through the same thing.. except I did mine when I was 16.

28 days and issued

Just looked today and my RPAL got issued exactly 28 days after they recieved it. Both my references and myself were called by the RCMP days after sending in my application.

Looks like if you want to get a PAL/RPAL now is the time to do it.

Now if only Canada Post wasn't so damned slow...
