Die modifications

Hey guy/gals

I would like to have a F/L size die (6.5x55) modified, but don't know who in Canada can do the work. I want the neck portion opened up so I no longer need the expander ball. Same idea as a bushing die but without the bushings. Any help would be appreciated.

If maynard can't help me out I'm pretty sure I can get a hone locally and give it a whirl myself. Worst case I screw up a $30 die.
After that well your guy might be doing up a couple custom dies.

Most machinists don't have their own tools so when they do something on the side, they have to sneak it past their bosses. This is called a Swiss Navy job around here.

A lot of machinist's couldn't handle-understand what you want anyways. This is more of a tool and die makers job. One off jobs can be very expensive. If you can't do the job yourself, it will be cheaper to buy a Redding die.

Most sizing dies are surfaced hardened so machining them can be a royal pain. Plus, if hardended, what are the odds of you getting a perfect cut?

The least expensive and the best way to go is the Lee collet neck sizing die. For around $25, it will do what you want.

How expensive is a precision reamer?
