Die/press interchangability??

Hi everyone,
I am new to reloading and I happen to know that santa is bringing me
a rock chucker supreme press (I've been good) and after a little internet surfing, can't seem to find
a set of dies for 45 70 in rcbs. so i wonder are they standardized so any brand will work?

Short answer, yes the different brand dies should work in other presses.

Worth mentioning that the Hornady die bushings, the quick release ones, do not work in a Lee anniversary press. Presumably the Lee quick change bushings will not work in the Hornady press. However, both brands of dies will fit in both brands of bushings. I've got a 10 pack of the Hornady bushings taking up space since I'm too lazy to return them.

I don't know what the GP scene is like, but every so often shops will have demo presses set up, if you want to be extra sure they might let you open a pack to be sure it fits. I did that with the RCBS shell holders, they fit fine in other brand presses.
 
RCBS makes dies for the 45-70.
Download the RCBS Catalog and save it to your desktop for quick reference.
There are about 50 pages and as a beginner it will keep you occupied til well past Xmas.
