Die quality

I have a quick question concerning reloading dies. Years ago, accidently, I bought a set of Bonanza Bench Rest dies. Looking at one of the latest RCBS product catalog's, I see mention being made of, "Gold Metal Match Dies". Stupid question perhaps but what if any is the big benefit? Is there a significant difference between that quality of die and what they put out as standard? If so, how much difference?

A good set of Comp dies will have (or at least SHOULD have) far better tolerances than the cheaper version of the same dies.

Every company has Entry Level right up to full on Competition Dies.

I would bet dollars to donuts that your older Bonanza BR dies are probably better than the newer RCBS "Gold Medal Match" you mentioned.

I agree with cyan1d. I used to be a RCBS snob, ie; RCBS is best and all else is junk. Then I got a set of custom made (375 Imp. 40) dies by Redding/Saeco. Now I consider RCBS to be entry level by comparison.

I have several sets of those older "Bonanza" Benchrest dies, and consider them top quality. Ammo loaded with them on a Co-Ax press usually display very little, if any, runout. Regards, Eagleye.
