For those who have a Diemaco / Colt Canada MRR-16, please check your restricted firearm registration certificate. There was an error in barrel length made when Colt Canada / Diemaco registered the 16-inch barrel version of the MRR.

My registration certificate indicated a barrel length of 400mm (15.75"). The actual barrel length is 406mm (16").

I contacted O'Dell engineering who verified that an error was made. They sent the RCMP the following correction to the Distinguishing Characteristics of the Firearm Verification form:

"Manufacturer registered series with 400mm barrel length (FRT 133146-8) and they were actually ordered and manufactured with 406mm (16") barrels (FRT 133146-14)."

I have already received my corrected registration certificate. I called the RCMP but they would not tell me if every other certificate issued would also be corrected. Please make sure you contact the RCMP to ensure you have the correct information on your registration certificate.

This would be of particular concern for those who want to bring their MRR-16 into the United States. The USA forbids non-residents from possessing a rifle with a barrel under 16". Only residents with a tax stamp may do so.

Doesn't matter. The gun is restricted anyways.

Piece of paper doesn't change how long the barrel is. The US authorities could measure if they like.

Parent frt is the same. It's just a sub entry in the same frt entry.

Minor problem.

as long as you are registered it really is not an issue. even if you take it to the states, i have never had them measure the rifle, specially when it is only 1/4 inch too short, you cannot tell with your eye.

if the US border guard looks at your cert and converts 400 mm to 15.75" you could have a problem.

I think that is all the op is really saying. Better to be correct

No, because you then tell him to measure it to verify for himself what the actual barrel length is.

Still no trouble.

If you have a US Border Agent who gives two hoots about your Canadian paperwork, you've really got something weird.

I definitely wanted to spread the word because I would rather err on the side of caution. I somehow don't need the hassle trying to tell American customs or law enforcement to measure my barrel. While Form6 is paramount, I prefer all my paperwork is correct.

If the CFO didn't want to send me a new registration certificate, I would insist they did. If that failed, I would call O'Dell Engineering to have them get it done.

Take care everyone. Happy shooting.
