Diemaco question

Diemaco stamped uppers are fairly common on colts made after colt bolt them. Diemaco stamped lowers have made there way into civi hands from Leo's department who sold them, I understand that this have happened in the U.S and Diemaco's sold in Europe. Wild humours perhaps.

What I do know for sure is that just because it stamped C8 (C7 etc.) does not necessarily mean its a CF wpn. All the Leo versions and foreign military models are marked that way as well.

Gents, We are not talking about a lower receiver marked C8 only...
Or an upper that is fairly common now...

how about the lower reciever? The picture he sent me from his black berry shows 3 lowers of which 2 recievers bear the "D" logo from diemaco and 1 bear the Canadian Forces C8 markings... ser # 07AB01465

From Orochi's description, We are talking about a FA lower receiver, Bearing the property of the Canadian Forces markings, made in Canada (obiously) and exported to the US.

That was my understanding; Canadian maple leaf embossed magwell with "Canadian Forces" and the C8 nomenclature. As already noted, those are select-fire lowers built specifically for the CF. Export units are not marked that way at all.

OK, you guy's obviously DON'T have a clue about US laws regarding "full auto".

1. Any F/A imported into the US after 1968 is a "dealer sample" and can only be owned by military, law enforcement or a "licenced f/a dealer"

2. "Dealer Samples" are broken down into 2 main classes "pre 1986" and "post 1986". A "post sample" can only be imported (traded or manufactured in the US) and held by a dealer who has sent a request on "law enforcement letterhead" in response to a specific request.

NO ONE is running around the US with an illegal F/A Diamaco lower (and showing it to anyone). It HAS TO BE a "post 86 dealer sample" imported/purchased and registered to the holding business with full knowledge of the BATFE.

OR someone added "Diamaco" markings to a lower (F/A or otherwise) for increased LCF, just like several people on this board.

Its nice to assume people dont know ;)

All Canadian Forces marked Diemaco C8 (again with CF markings) Belongs to the Govt of Canada. And were NEVER SOLD by Diemaco to anyone else BUT the Govt of Canada . And I am pretty sure the Govt did not sell them to anyone for export to a dealer...

It would be the same questions asked as a Prohib Dealer owning a M16 lower receiver with the Markings: property of the US Govermnent, here in Canada.

I know a number of people who own/have owned "US Property" marked M16s and AR-15s.

Lots came out of Israel in the 80s/early 90s. Some came from Vietnam, and others were legally imported into Canada as F/A before 1978.

I know of a number of people in Canada who have marked up (Dlask) AR lowers to resemble a Canadian Property Diamaco C7/C8 lower. :runaway:

A lot of people in the US mark up US produced FN-FAL uppers to resemble CAL produced C1/C2 or Lithgow/BSA/Enfield L1a1/L2 uppers which they cannot legally have.

I see your point but that is a very different situation. The US has surplused/donated a large number of weapons over the years, so yes, property marked lowers are out there in private hands.

Canada has only been using the C7/C8 since 87 and has never surplused any of them. As a matter of fact, even if they did become surplus to their needs they would be destroyed, they wouldn't even sell you a cocking handle.

It could be a clone, but doubtful.

Actually, the Canadian Forces just transferred several thousand "surplus" C7s to Afghan National Forces in Khandahar a couple of months back.

I wonder if any of those will ever make their way back to North America via some US soldier/Marine/SEAL who picked it up on the battlefield or traded for it from the Afghani who it was issued to?

They are part of a "lend-lease" plan in order to standardize equipment and ammunition between all combat forces. AFAIK it's only several hundred, not thousand(s).
Also, because Canada has signed that small arms proliferation thingie from the UN many years ago, (that made it forbidden to sell to third world countries or something like that...) we can't actually leave them there after we go.

Understandable,

If you have a FA C8 lower worth i am sure thousands of $$$$$$ in the US

Why would you desecrate a sample ?

Again, it seems strange.

KPA

A "post sample" isn't worth very much because it is even more closely controlled than the equivilent F/A to a dealer in Canada.

A F/A C8 lower in the US would only be worth what the equivilent F/A Colt M16/M4 lower would be worth (@$1200 for a complete M4 to the end user).

The Diamaco "cachet" is limited as it can ONLY be transferred to another dealer who had a law enforcement request for that particular firearm.
