Well all you mil-surplus experts out there, I'm lookin at the Mosins offered by P&S and I was wondering what the differances are between the M38 and M44 versions? I was also wondering about one statement in the add for the M38 that says "the barrel is counterbored". What the hell does that mean? One other question on a side note; what rifle was used in Enemy at the Gates by Vaselli(sp)? Thanks in advance.

One more thing. Obviously a 60+ year old rifle is going to be worn but I still want a ood shooter for fun are oversized barrel bore diameters a concern for accuracy and safety?

M44 has a folding bayonet and M38 does not.
Counterboring is running a drill into the muzzle of a rifle to freshen up rifleiing worn at the muzzle.
Sniper rifle was a MN 91/30.
