Hi guys, I have been looking at some Daniel defense rifles. I was looking at the ddm4a1 mil spec but a friend of mine has an mk12. I did some googling and haven't been able to find a review that compares the two. Can anyone shed some light on the differences for me?

MK 12 will have a 18" barrel and a DDM4A1 mil spec plus will have a 14.5" barrel. Not sure about trigger in the MK 12 but I have a DDM4A1 and the factory trigger is great. Both great choices

The DD MK12 is more precision oriented rifle. It has an 18", hammer forged stainless barrel that is nitrided, rifle length gas system, and a Geissele trigger.
The M4A1 has a 14.5" chrome moly, hammer forged barrel that is chrome lined, carbine gas system, and a milspec trigger.
There are other differences between the two that are mainly aesthetic, these are the core differences. Both have free floated barrels as well.

Can't go wrong with either one, just depends on your preference/intended use.

Thanks for the responses guys! Do they shoot 5.56 and .223? What's the difference between the mil spec trigger and the geiselle trigger? Which of the two would you suggest for an all round ar? I'm thinking of trying to find somewhere (in the Vancouver/lower mainland area) that does tactical shooting courses or maybe even getting into 3 gun. There are so many options out there I just don't know enough about the ar platforms.

.223 and 5.56 will both work in the DDs.
The geisselle trigger is a custom trigger with a pull weight around 2.5-4lbs. Crisp and clean breaking trigger. Milspec is just the stock factory trigger that comes with any off the shelf AR. The Geisselle will cost you money! Is it worth it? That depends on you, how much you plan on shooting and competing. I use milspec triggers in both my ARs and I have no problems.
Check out TAC Rifle at Thompson Mtn. Go to the Tacmatch.com site to sign up for details.
Another venue is Chilliwack Fish and Game. Their black rifle section has a parallel and close relationship with TMSA and will see more events in 2016.

PS If you really want to compete with your AR and will only get one AR, get a 16" model. This gives you flexibilty if you ever want to shoot in the States as that is their min barrel length requirement. Also, they will not admit Norinco or DA rifles.

Another AR?? You better rent a smaller canoe!! LOL!
I got my course this week coming up but definitely in for trying the DD.
I was thinking of using your Orange for the " My pistol shoots palm size groups" challenge, if you are ok with it? I know that gun is capable of it as long as we do our part.

yep no problem, you shoot that thing better than me.
just let me know when.

Just out of curiousity, if I ever wanted to go down in barrel length would I be able to do that on the m4a1? Would I have to change the fore grip and such? I know these are completely noob questions but we all have to start somewhere :D

Your best bet would be to get your self a separate upper if you buy a MK12 and want something shorter you can always find uppers from site sponsor or the ee usually has some good deals if you watch for them
