Thr Grizzly is in sharp focus......look at the background nicely in focus

The next two 870 pics are out of focus.....again look at the background...it is blurred.

Still, the griz looks nice.

thats just 'depth of field'. the background is out of focus on the latter three because they are further away from it whereas the grizzly is leaning closer to the mat and therefore part of the mat is in focus. the focus on the background is totally irrelevant.

the differences are pretty evident, i made no comment on them, anyone is free to check out either of the models at your local gun shop to verify the accuracy of the pics -- or by all means if anyone disagrees with them or has different quality finishes then please submit your own to this thread.

The finish on my 870 express absolutely sucks s**t. I only bought it because it was the most readily available left handed 12g I could get. 6 days in the marsh hunting over christmas and this past week and its shot. The wood finish is gone and the gun rusts in the rain while I am sitting there.

After every hunt I clean the heck out of it and oil it down to the max just to preserve it as best I can. Thank god I am getting a new Berreta semiauto next week with the stone coat finish so I can lay the 870 to rest in the vault. Maybe I will spend the money and get it refinished and a new synthetic stock but will have to see.

If anyone wants me to post pics of what it looks like after only 6 trips out hunting let me know.

please do. ideally people could post pics of their 870/chinese/turkish/italian/etc guns so that when people ask 'whats the finish quality of _____ like compared to _____' you can just point them to this thread instead of trying to explain it for the 6000th time.

LOL :D They sure don't make them like they used to!

WRONG! :p

REM still makes 870s like they used to, they just relegated the Express Model as the economical, crappy version. Maybe REM realized they now have a market with the poser types. Finish, or reliability isn't important so much as fingerprint retention is. :)

You want something better, the Police and Wingmaster models are what you're after.

A useful comparison and very clear photos of it all, 'manbearpig'. Hey, how come your guns look so clean? :D (Just ribbing you, of course. I know you actually hunt your guns).

after finding some rust i have been OCD about keeping everything well maintained lately :D

The Wingmaster - i picked the nicest one, i have another with a mashed up top rail.
i just got the Express a couple months ago and only had it out twice for grouse.

the 870P and Grizzly are dinged up you just cant see it in that pic :)
the finish is flaking off the 870P - shame on Remington not parkerizing them anymore. it seems to be some sortof paint?
the Grizzly is either a thin park or matte blued, i cant really tell.
