Difference between FMJ and TMJ

Was wondering if there is a difference and if so what is it
is tmj just plated vs full metal?

I could be wrong on this but my understanding is that TMJ entirely encloses the lead portion while with FMJ it may not entirely enclose the lead at the rear of the projectile.

TMJ usaly plated so the total bullets coated fmj has no jacket on the base. TMJ is usaly cast plated. And FMJ is form fitted to jacket.

Isn't it a bit duplicitous to call plated bullets jacketed? Plating not being a jacket, nor serving the same function.

indeed plating is something in between cast bullets and jacketed.
