Difference between Rem model 7 and model 700?

Model Seven has a shorter action and bolt length than a short action Model 700. Trims it up a bit and shaves some weight. Mag box is still 2.8" though.

A M7 action will not fit in a stock inletted for a M700 SA

I will add to this: The bolt is different in another way also, it does not have the anti bind slot cut into it like a M700, the shroud is also different, the action tang and screw spacing is also diff. It is closer to the Model 600/660 or new single shot than the M700, as a matter of fact they use the same 1 pc. scope base. They do make nice light guns but are limited to the 2.8" mag length.
