For a hunting set up, what factors should be considered when choosing the color of your scope (matt black, glossy black, silver) for a SS action/barrel rifle?

glare?
versatility? (black scope on SS is ok, but not so much silver scope on blued)
color match? (Silver scope seems to be the appropriate choice for SS, although the silver scope will rarely be a perfect match of the color of your SS action)
ect.

Which do you prefer? and why?

I hate silver finished scopes as well as stainless rings. Like you mentioned the colours never match, so you end up with 3 similar colours on your rig that clash. Yes I used that word:p I'm too picky about how my stuff looks, at least so I've been told:rolleyes: My preference on stainless firearms is to go with matte rings and base, as well as the scope. It looks good together like that as far as I'm concerned. But that's just me, I don't even go out with mismatched camo:redface: . Some call it anal, I say I just like what I like.:D

Matte black (scope and rings) look good on everything. However some of the guys I hunt with have tried to "bling" their gopher rigs out as much as possible (shiny scopes, polished rings) and I've got to admit - I want to chrome my 17hmr.

I don;t think there's much of a difference. I don't particularly care what finish my scopes have. Silver/nickel ones usually cost more, so I don;t have one. I'd imagine they'd look ok on a stainless action gun. I do think they look kinda silly on blued guns.

I like the look of matte ringa and scope on a stainless barrel. If I owned a richly blued rifle, I would think about blued rings and gloss scope. Stainless scopes look ugly.
