Different Manufacturer, Same Bullet?

I'm loading .22-250 with Speer 52 gr HPBT-Match bullets and IMR 3031. As many of you know, there are sometimes shortages of components because Canada just isn't quite as cool as The States. The result is a lack of more of the same bullets. I do, however, have some Hornady 52 gr HPBT-Match bullets, and I'm wondering if the loadings would be similar. I don't have access to a Hornady reloading manual at the moment. I can't seem to find any data online either, though I admit I didn't search extremely extensively.

Can anyone tell me the given maximum/minimum loads in the Hornady manual for .22-250, their 52 grain pills, and IMR3031? Or do you know if Speer's data for the same type bullet would be similar/safe to use? I am only working light loads for a while.

P.S. A page has just randomly fallen out of my Speer manual. It is new, and has not been subject to even light abuse. Is this normal?

Thanks,

You can use the same load data for the bullets you mentioned, but you will most likely find POI and grouping differences as they are 2 different bullets.

Not HPBT Match bullets but the Min and Max loads are most likely the same or very close.
52 GR. HDY A-MAX IMR IMR 3031 .224" 2.350" 32.0 3474 48,000 PSI 34.0 3768 62,500 PSI

Regarding the page that fell out...it's a sign from God that you need a rifle chambered in whatever the load data shows on that page. If you do not get one within the next 7 days your #### will fall off.
Sounds far fetched I know, but it happened to a friend of mine.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. I'd expect different POI and group, but since the boat tail and ogive are shorter on the Hornady bullets, I figured more bullet would be contacting the rifling which would result higher friction and subsequently in slightly higher pressures.

Unfortunately, I don't think I have much use for a 35 Whelen.. can I buy one and then sell it immediately? Actually, I just realized the page was never bound in the book in the first place. It's a centerfold and they missed it with the threading. Incompetent fools.

If you are seated out to the lands I can see maybe a slightly higher pressure. Most factory rifle have extremely long throats so I wouldn't worry about it.
Take CyaN1de's advice you don't want anything to happen to the old wedding tackle.:p
