different rings suggestion

Heres whats on my 1940s 6.5x55 Swedish mauser right now. A set of "Holden Ironsighters" The scope sits kinda high. Is it possible the "see throughs" were put on to make it easier to load? I got the gun with these rings on it.
Do I have any other choices?

Yup, Leupold makes 94/96 Mauser bases, Weaver bases should fit, probably others too. - dan

I always tell guys that want see through rings to try a set of Leupold QWRs. You can't see through them, but you can yank a scop ethat goes bad in a big hurry, and they can be used w/ any weaver style base.

I think they were used because they didn;t want to alter the bolt handle to clear the scope eyepiece
