I recently bought one of the Yugo M48 Mausers from Marstar and the other day I got to take it out to the range for the first time. The first thing that I noticed was that when I loaded the magazine with more than one round the rifle had trouble chambering. The round would go into the chamber but the bolt would not "grab" the round properly and I could not get the bolt down. I also noticed that after firing it had some trouble extracting. It would take the casing out of the chamber but most of the time it would not go flying off; it would stay stuck to the extractor and I would have to pull it off by hand. Should I look at getting a new extractor or is it possibly something else?

Did you take the bolt apart and clean all the cosmoline out of it? If it's still full of goopy thick grease it isn't going to do what it needs too, and it will block spring travel and claw engagement on the extractor. I'd start with a very complete strip and clean of the bolt and the chamber\barrel.....

take the bolt out and see if a cartridge will slide up into the extractor with no problem. Take a good look at the bolt face and see if there are any burrs of hardened cosmoline that are stopping it from sliding in nice or holding it during ejection.

I had an unissued yugo which eventually became a great rifle but I spent a pile of hours polishing, honing etc.
