Wondering what the opinion is on the $20-$40 scales that are all over ebay?

They can weigh in grains, which seems great, but I question their quality.

Anyone have experience with them? Do they do the job and are reliable?
Any particular models, brands, types, styles etc?

I'm not really in the mood to drop $200++++ on a scale that has a reloaders label on it.

I know a few guys that use no name scales and also RCBS models. One thing they all say is that they have had some real goofy readings from time to time. I stick with a powder measure and still weigh charges. Even that thing can give some substantial variation. I'd be leary of anything for $20, but I'm the paranoid type.

This is the same as the one I bought about 2 years ago, and this is all I use. I know guys say the cheap ones are crap but it measures to .02 grains and has always been good for me. I shot a .22 inch group last week with a factory Tikka T3 in 204 with my hand loads so how bad can it be. I've check it against my buddies RCBS balance beam and it is the same every time.

Good luck.

I use the RCBS elctronic scale because it is mated to my Powder Dispenser setup but I still use my Redding to spot check loads during the session, I can't fully trust them, maybe I'm just paranoid but I don't see how it hurts to be on the safe side, funny thing is I always trust my balance beam scale!

My plan was to reserve the balance beam scale for double checking each load. Since the digi scales are faster I'd pour out the amount, then toss it on the beam scale and let it stop swinging while I get the next load poured on the digi scale.

So as long as you don't get complacent, the $20 digi ones are ok? For the price of them I could get 2 or 3!

My $40 no name digital scale sucks.

The cheapest RCBS beam scale sucks.

Since both sucks, I use both to extrapolate good reading. Takes about 10 mins of playing around to make sure it is indeed trust worthy. Digital scale swings wildy. RCBS could be off by 0.2-0.3 if I let beam bottom out ever so slightly.

Been let down twice... I personally will never buy a cheap scale again.

I had to return such a cheapie. It was a $50 Frankford Arsenal. I mean my Titegroup pistol loads allow .2 grain between min and max loads while the scale erred more than .5 grains.

one thing I learned about my Pact BBK is that it takes some time to settle down after turning it on. I like to have it warmed up 5 min. or so before calibration. If I don't the reading will creep up 0.1 to 0.3 grains and charges will be light.
