Digital scale calibration

Hey all,

I was wondering if the guys with digital scales could weight a loonie and quarter in grams and let me know your findings.

I got a new used scale and I believe the 20 gram weight for calibration is not actually 20 grams as when I weigh 150 and 180 grain bullets, along with quarters and loonies, I have a different reading then what I think it should be.

Like I get 145 grains for a 150 grain bullet, 173 for a 180 grain bullet, 6 grams for a loonie and 4.5 grams for a quarter.

I already loaded up some bullets with the scale and if it is incorrect, it will be under so I should be safe but I want to make sure.

A quarter has a nominal mass of 4.4g and a Loonie is nominally 7g.

That said, I'm not sure what sort of weight variation is normal. I suggest weighing multiple examples of each coin to see what, if any, difference there is.

Ok the way I was calibrating was wrong, I read the directions again and saw i missed a step. I have re calibrated and everything appears to be good now.

Make sure you zero AND calibrate each time. Else Kabooom!

Temperature will affect the digital scale, if you calibrate early in the morning and it is 20C in the house, you heat up to 24 C there will be a small difference, my Hornady digital does it... JP.
