So my RCBS scale broke while moving and I needed another. I ordered the RCBS 1500 scale from Wholesale and a week and a half later it still hasn't been shipped. I phoned and canceled the order. I then find the Cabellas brand 1500 digital scale for $50 cheaper and order it.

My question is has anyone used this scale ?? The features are the same as the RCBS one. It looked good and got good reviews off a US relaoding site I found ? Anyone have experience with this model. ??

I have it, I'm satisfied BUT

Sometimes (not all the times) you put on the brass cup (notice the wiegh of the cup), then you zero, then you weigh in a charge, then pour it into your case then check again the numbers, your cup is now lighter! (±0,1 grain)

When that happens I recalibrate the scale then weigh the charge again. I also randomly test charges, so far whenever the cup's weight doesn't shift, the charge is good.

With my rifle loads I throw a charge with my powder measure and weight it every time. I have heard much of the same thing with most digital powder measures,RCBS, LEE....etc

I use the RCBS Chargemaster AND my beam scale for my target loads.

I load the bullet in the case while the electronic dispenser is doing it's thing, I double check on the beam scale (add or subtract a granule or 2 as needed), pour powder into case, seat bullet while powder is dispensing.

Makes things go much faster.

oh really? That's my first and only digital scale
but the scales I use at work are 0,0001 gram accurate and the wiegh never shifts (unless room temperature changes or someone opens the door which creates a pressure difference):D

Yes I believe most guys use both types of scales as CyaN1de stated above. Further to that plus or minus a tenth of a grain makes a differnce in my gun. In fact when working up a load I usually start at the minimum and work up using .5 increments. Once I have a tighter range that is close to good I work up the load using .1 increments. My Tikka 7mm mag likes exactly 62 grains of IMR4350 and a 140 grain Accubond, approx 3100 fps. Anything more or less than 62 grains and my groups start to spread.

I know it is finicky and really my deer will die regardless but once you get the accuracy bug it is hard to settle for anything else.

Now those work scales.....those are reloading scales !!!!!!!!!!!

Ok I used the Cabella's scale for the first time today and loaded 30 7mm mag shells. I threw the charges with a uniflow powder measure and toped them off using the digital scale. I checked about 20 of the 30 on a beam scale as well. Every load was bang perfect. The Cabellas digital scale was very accurate.

Yes this happenned to me as well a couple of times....

You don't have to do this. In the manual it says that if this happens you just hit the TARE button and it zero's the scale. You only have to recalibrate if it comes up with the 0 flashing. I did this and checked the charges every time with a beam scale and every charge was bang on perfect.

Hence I am very impressed with this scale. I may have went a little over board with the checking of all those charges but I wanted to be sure as to how accurate the scale was and it is VERY accurate.

For $99 you really can not go wrong with scale. I highly recommend it.

I use a 1500, works good. The dispenser packed it in on me last year (after 3 yrs use), but RCBS are sending me a replacement at a low cost

So the zero creep is common in digital reloading scales? I bought one of the Cabellas scales a while ago and have been having this issue. It will creep as much as .3 of a grain from zero. That's a lot for a pistol round. It seems better if I leave it on all the time.

Like I said just hit that TARE button and your scale will rezero, while maintaining the accuracy. I was really impressed.
