Sorry, can't find anything related with the search, so sorry if this has been hashed out before.

I picked up the case feeder, and quite frankly I'm finding it a piece O crap. Trying to load 9mm. Set up and functions as per the instructions, but when it comes to actually loading, I'm having all sorts of little problems that are making things slower than feeding the cases by hand. Ie. top plastic tube coming out/appears to be too short, cases tumbling in the feeder tray area, case not positioned properly to seat the primer, etc etc. Just a whole bunch of little things.

I've been loading 20-25,000 per year on my 1050 and other 550 since 1985. I'm familiar with Dillon stuff, and this thing is just killing me as I've been a big fan and find this thing fairly mickey mouse.

Anybody else been able to trouble shoot this case feeder?

I have the occasional case getting stuck sideways in the funnel, but by and large, it works well in 9mm. It opperates near on 100% with 40 S&W and 45acp.

My experience mirrors Beltfed. I use mine to load 9MM, .40, .45acp, .38spl/.357mag and .45 Colt. No issues other than the odd jam up at the funnel with 9MM brass.

Sounds like you have to tweek how you have it set up. Have you talked to Dillon customer service? They are pretty good at analyzing what your problem might be. Sounds like your base is not set up correctly.

Call Dillon. sounds to me like either you have a lemon case feeder or it is not set up correctly. i do know that having it braced well makes a big difference on how many up side down cases you get. if it is not pushing all the way in i would adjust the cam that does the pushing as it does loosen off after a bit.

Thanks for the advise. I'm looking at the push bar. It appears it may be going in too far/too high????? It sort of pushes the top of the empty case as it is seating in the 1st station. It appears to "rock" back out of the shell plate just enough to not be in a good position to seat the primer, and therefore causing a stop. I'll work on adjusting that cam cut out bar.

I too am getting the cases jamming at the top. I don't with my 1050 feeder.

The top tube sure appears to be about 1/2 inch too short. It sometimes comes out on the down stroke, and of course jams up there too.

I'll keep tweeking.

I know Dillon's support is good, and will call them as a last resort after playing with this for a bit more. All else fails, read the instuctions.

I was getting around 700 rp hour rhythm(sp), without the case feeder. This is just slowing me down.

Ah man don't do that. All that will do is confuse you.:D

You will get there, just takes time.

I had the same problem with mine. After farting around for a week I called Dillon and they talked me thru the problems completely. Since then I have put about 25,000 rds thru with no problem.

Real men don't need no steenkin' structions!

At least while somebody's watching......;)

After you read the instructions, go tot the Brian Enos forum. There is a section dedicated to Dillon/550/ with a few pages of discussion on the casefeeder setup. Dillon regularly posts there.

Sorry if this is stupid/obvious but when i was setting up my case feeder the tube was too short but I had misplaced a small green tube extension/end cap that made up the 1/2 inch. Not sure if that helps

OK, got things working better. I re-adjusted the case seat "arm" that puts the empty case in the first/re-size station. It was in fact pushing too much and when it backed away, it was tipping it a slight bit where it ended up coming out of the shell plate enough to make things stop.

I played with the indented plate with the 2 bolts on the base to stop the arm from going in too far.

I still get a couple cases falling over when I try to turn the speed up. I think if I slow things do just a bit, smooth will be quicker.

I still think the first plastic tube could be a half inch longer.
