Dirt, debris, and the 180 upper?

DaveMachine That XCR handle system sucks with mud. I did a bit of a torture test (just a shovel full of mud poured onto each side of the reciever) and it jammed up so bad I had to kick start the charging handle and it bent. Couldn't get the bolt to go into battery because the charging handle wouldnt allow me to press it all the way forward. I had to completely disassemble the rifle. Would a handle on the carrier work better? I don't know, but that was a disaster.

Why hasn't anyone designed a slit rubber dust cover like the one present on the sig 550? I cant imagine it being overly difficult to design or produce.

Times like this I wish I had a 3d printer to work up some dust cover designs!

It may be time to introduce the R18 Mk2 to this discussion. The R18 uses a Left-side Charging Handle System which totally blocks ingress of foreign matter on that side of the Receiver. The Right side of the Receiver is closely sealed against the side of the Bolt-Carrier, such that it effectively seals dirt out of that side of the rifle as well. This could be the answer to your desires, or at least as close as you are going to find on the current market.....

Also, if you have a safe-queen prohibited firearm to use for parts, and don't mind brick-like ergonomics, Sylvestre is bringing in dust covers for the J180 build kits with their next shipment. The flip-down cover protects the right-side only charging track when not firing, the BCG obstructs the ejection port when locked forward in a manner similar to the R18 or prohibited up here BRN-180. The rifle uses a Stoner style pseudo-piston fed from an AR-15 style gas tube to impinge an otherwise AR-180 recoil harvesting system, so the gas tube, gas block, barrel and handguard of any height that can accommodate the gas tube can be harvested and used with the rifle. Complete riles will be coming for the third shipment, if you can't source the parts to build the rifle yourself.
