Dirty Casings

I have noticed that when I shoot my 6.5 x 55 swede the casings are always dirty when I eject them. Looks like it may possibly be soot but there is no evidence of any gases escaping.

Any ideas?

Clean your chamber. Anything after that will be soot.

Usually soot is caused by a low pressure round causing the brass case to not expand enough and seal the chamber.

Put an extra grain of powder in her and see if that seals it up. Unless you have them hot already which you didn't mention.

No not Igman, but Sellior and Bellot (or however it is spelled), and my hand loads which have been a little on the light side. I never thought of the low powder charge being an issue as both the factory and handloaded rounds both did it.
