Hi,

I'm looking at purchasing a used Anschutz Match 54, pretty decent looking, but it has the double set trigger system, for which I have no use (front trigger push forward sets the rear hair trigger).

Does anybody know if this setting mechanism can be disabled, the front "trigger" removed, and if the resulting single trigger weight is adjustable?

The barrel is long for my purpose too, but nothing a hacksaw can't solve (just kidding!)

Thanks,

Frans

set trigger

Just leave it and dont use it -it just lightens the pull of the main trigger. I love mine -Yes I think you can take it out -

aaah I see

It's likely not allowed in Biathlon races, hence my desire to get rid of it.

check the rules - if the trigger is gone but some set mechanism is still in place - it may not be allowed - I may have an anschutz trigger to swap with you for the set - pm me ---:)

Frans,

As far as I know, you can't remove the front trigger, you would have to replace the whole unit. The Anschütz replacement trigger you need is Model #5071.

Please, don't even think about cutting the barrel ! Anschütz barrels are choked at the muzzle and cutting them will ruin their accuracy.

Aren't biathlon rifles supposed to be repeaters ?

Thanks for the info. Didn't know this about the barrel.

Yes, they are supposed to be repeaters, and in my enthusiasm I forgot to ask (the picture I got sent didn't show). We did talk about magazine holders on the stock, etc... You would think the seller would have mentioned if it had been a single shot... but stranger things have happened.

Are all Models 54 single shots? Please, forgive my ignorance, I'm just starting into this.
