Does anyone know where I can get detailed instuctions on how to properly strip the Vz-58s? I am itchin to get her apart and properly oiled.

Clear the chamber. Push button at rear of dust guard to the side, but it does not come out. Push the dust cover forward against the spring, lift, and move to the rear. Pull out bolt by the handle, to the rear and up and out. Push button near rear sight to the side. Lift up top hand guard and pivot it off the front rails. Grab piston and pull to the rear. Lift it up and out. Assembly is trickier. I press down the striker sear with my finger to move the bolt assembly forward.

I think the 858 manual is identical, just translated into English as well. Unfortunately I don't have a link location for you.

No worries though, stripping the 58/858 rifle is very easy. I don't own many guns, but for me, the 58 is the easiest and fastest to clean rifle of which I either currently or have had the pleasure of ever owning.

I am able to push the dust cover forward but it only lifts up a millimetre or two. I am unable to lift it off. Do you have any idea as to what I may be doing wrong.

Putting the bolt back together and into the rifle can be tricky. When you have it together, and put it back into the receiver, the striker (odd shaped tube) may tend to stay to the rear. Press down the sear (a sort of leaf spring) and press the striker forward.
