I just purchased a Marathon Rifle, single shot .22, and there is an extractor problem. It will not eject the spent shell. At the same time any help on how to seperate the barrel from receiver would be great as I am wanting to reblue and refinish the stock at the same time. The barrel appears to be attached with one screw in the lower, but will not seperate. Could it just be that I need to use a dowel to tap it free, as this would be a last resort. There is also some work needed to be done at the front of the chamber. I am out of luck in searching the net, cannot find anything, so hopefully someone here will be able to help. Thanks.

It is possible that the barrel was not made to be easily removed and replaced. Some of the COOEY .22's are like that. If you are going to cold blue you don't need to remove the barrel. If you are going to hot blue you are going to need a lot of equipment and skill to do it right, so you must be a gunsmith and you will figure out how to remove the barrel. If you are not a gunsmith don't try to remove the barrel, if you want to use the gun again. If the cartridges are extracted but don't eject, the problem may be in the bolt, also if there is no extraction ,it is possibly in the bolt too. Just my thoughts.

Bolt out, stock and trigger seperated from receiver. Lower bolt through receiver and screw on side (90 degrees) from bottom screw removed. Barrel and receiver do have a slight movement when holding onto each part, but will just not seperate. As mentioned earlier I wanted to seperate them so that work can be done on the face of the chamber as from what I can see this may be an anwser to my extraction problem, but will not know until then. Just found a Dremel bit that worked in the area mentioned. I now got rid of the edge that had to go. It now seems to extract properly but when it gets to the last bit of case, it (the case) seems to get sucked back up by suction. What is this as I haven't seen this before. If this didn't happen, all would be great. Thanks again.
