Discharging a firearm out of city limits

Anyone know if I can legally discharge a firearm around Victoria BC?
From what I've read on the forum it seems I can do it once officially outside of the city limits, but how far away do I have to be from the highway? Thanks
 
The Butchart Gardens is great spot, next to butterfly world. But it can only be 12 gauge or greater with 00 buck. The greenish butterflies don't die quick. Lol.

I used to drive a little past Sooke and found a good place out there. There's some clearings to be found. But damn the bush grows back fast.
 
You think those green butterflies are bad try the brown spotted one. Twelve rounds of .45-70 and the bugger still doesn't go down......
So just to clarify I need no permit to shoot out of city limits? Would obtaining a hunting permit be necessary? And do I have to far enough away from the highway that my shooting won't bother anyone?
