I had been thinking of replacing the bolt handle and knob on my Savage 11 and mentioned it to a friend. He made me two replacement bolt knobs so kinda forced my hand into doing it myself. One is mild steel and the other aluminum. Both were threaded 5/16 - 24. So a little research and I dove in. I wanted a slight profile left on the handle to allow a smooth transition from the knob to the handle. I think it turned out very well.
