Hey guys,
My Enfield has a scope on it but it sits REALLY high! I DON'T WANT TO PERMANANTLY MOD THE STOCK so what I'm lookin' for is a way to get a good cheek weld by putting something on it.

Now I could get out the foam wood and duct tape but I wouldn't mind if the thing didn't look like a bubba job when I'm done. Anyone have a way to Tastefully raise my stock without any permanant mods?

This pic illistrates what I'm talkin' about

Buy a junker stock (they are cheap) and mod it instead. They are easy to change....you only need a large, long handled flat tip screw driver......and this way, you are keeping the original one just that, original and untouched.....

Brownells sells four or five products that might be what you're looking for. Some are stick on, but if I were to scope my Enfield, the lace up one from BLACKHAWK INDUSTRIES would be the classier option.

either the eagle stock pack or junker stock to mod is my best idea.
i went the duct tape and foam route with mine as it is a old old bubba job and i dont really care about looks LOL its a working gun and it does its job well

heres what I did with a piece of kydex with foam to adjust height because i didn't want to drill my 305 stock

Hope that gives you an idea,

That's a fine-looking rifle you have there! (It's only a .303, though- why are you wincing in the pic? :p )

I recently came across another alternative for cheek risers from cheeknstock.com. These look rather nice and can be had in various heights.

You have a link? Couldn't find it on their site. Don't even know if I had the right site! Cheers.

:D That's my buddy shooting. It was his first time out lol. Thanks, I'm quite happy with it. It's an Accurate little shooter
Thx for the link!

Thanks for all the input guys.

Jsublime49:

Where did you get that piece of kydex ? Where can one find such a piece?

What is needed to shape that kydex using locally found tools?

I might consider such a project for my M700 SPS stock. Most of you CGNutters know (from my M14 antics) that I'm all about the welfare approach to solving what can turn out to be a high buck project.

Cheers,
Barney

Hello Barney,

I have the Kydex if you need. If you have a heat gun your in buisness, because this is thick kydex you have to keep it moving. Better yet, throw it in the oven till it gets like soft pasta.

Don't want to hijack too much, so.... you have incoming mail.

Regards,

John

The lace on style of cheekrest are crap.

Been there, done that. They don't stay tight and the cheekrest can move around. You need something rock solid that won't disturb your head postion when looking through the scope.

if you don't want to drill the stock get the Eagle stock pack.It attaches with velco straps and can be cinched up so that it doesn't move and it stays tight. You could add layers of foam underneath to build a proper "cheekweld".The top of the Eagle cheekrest is also finished in a soft, non-slip material.

I used the Cabelas leather lace on cheek piece, yes it did move around slightly so I used double sided tape to secure it...worked like a hot damn!
I've had trouble ordering any sort'a gun accessory from Cabelas since 911:mad:
