DIY F-class Bipod

I love building something that I could buy. It usually costs me about half again as much as it would cost to buy the damned thing but it burns up some spare time and you get to say "I built that", and then tell the story how you could have bnought the damned thing for a fraction of the price, but didn't because "what fun would that be?" :D
 
If we only used what we bought, how would we end up with Remple ski pods or Robertson stocks?

At some point in time, we need to design, create and PRODUCE....

Let us know how it works on the range.

It's a bit hard to see, and it's a tad small, but I put a 90 in there and a piece of copper as a slider for when I turn it.

I don't think I'll be a watch repairer, don't worry Obunded. :D

The weight limit is not for the bipod alone :)

Also, FWIW the Fleetweld 5P+ are Lincoln's fancy name for a 6010.

As a comparison check out the Larkin bi-pod it has similar characteristics as yours and might give you ideas for a 2.0 version.
 
That's a great idea, I just need another rifle now :D

anyways, I thought I should update this thread with some pictures of it painted matte black. It looks a lot better now, thank goodness.

i am sure you could have made it lighter and simpler..that looks just a bit to bulky..my buddy built a real nice one..i should try and post a pic.
 
Yeah, it could be a lot better. I'm designing a new one now. All I need is another rifle and a mill :D Or I could just send the design to someone who does have the right stuff. I'm thinking of 1/4" plate aluminum, skeletonized for weight reduction.

I'm still going to paint it CADPAT when I get around to it. All work and no play makes for not a lot of good progress.

Now there's another fun project......;)

Digital camo is time consuming so take your time to get it to look right.You will have to mix some colors to get a couple of the colors correct, or even close......

awesome job on the bipod!!!

bad part is im currently looking at a set of 295g carbon road bike forks thinking, thinking, yup now i gotta do it! and i hate working with epoxies
