We always see lots of ditch chickens while driving up the logging roads and more than once been surprised by an opportunity on a mule deer.. and its always a scramble to grab the right gun and jump out so I made this organizer tray. Like a gun caddy only full length, It secures the long guns tight at the buttstock so they don't slide forward, but still easy enough to pull out in a hurry. I've yet to test in the field but I'm confident everything is secure and won't bounce around.

Anyone else do something like this?

For me it's either gun on the front seat, or if there's a 2nd person in the truck it's expected that the passenger will be ready to hop out at a moments notice. But I like what you've made there! I've thought about making something myself and now you've got me re-interested.

Looks nice. What would prevent your bolt action to poke a hole in your dash if you have to make an emergency stop?
Good question, I won't be driving on the hwy with this setup, Just driving relatively slowly on the logging roads where emergency stops are unlikely, and the buttstock is held in pretty tight, but if it looks like it might be problem I will add some kind of retention system like a rubber bungee across the barrels. open to suggestions.

Nice job on the caddy, I’ve thought about something similar but my truck is too narrow. I just fold up a towel for the muzzle and stick the gun barrel down into the passenger side foot well, buttstock and action rests on the seat.
