FSN01W arrived today from marstar, i was surprised it arrived in a gun case and thats a good thing.

inside, along with the rifle was 4 mags in a pouch, cleaning kit and a sling , no bayo.

first impression, cool looking FH and furniture, the grip is larger than the standard and its feel much better in my hand, the square lower hand guard feel good in the palm too. the plum colour receiver looks fine , not as bright as i thought. the barrel, top cover and folder are black, not the same kind of blue i thought was on SKS. the mags are the usual painted bluish colour , i tried putting one in the receiver and it was a little snug so i might have to file the mags a bit to remove some of the paint.

once the mag was in , it looked like a multi color rifle.

now the down side, some deep scratch marks on the grip and lower HG on left side, it looks like i will have to refinish them, i think i will go blond, i always liked the contrast. also there was some surface rust in the FH.

the internals that houses the trigger mechanism is well machined and clean , no metal shavings as reported before in CZH. the inside is similar to my CZ858 than the CZH2003, see below. im not sure if the trigger is interchangeable.

other than the internals, the FSN01W is the same as the CZ858-4.

Yours is purple too. Pretty nice. What type of lhg is that? I never saw you posting about a modded lhg. Is it a yugo?

hmmm...your rifle had marks and scratches. Even rust...I think marstar should have disclosed these things or inspected each rifle to make sure it was "new". Not new, with handling marks. Mine was scratched up in areas but no rust.

Not the biggest fan of the purple/plum, but looks good none the less, only if I could afford buying myself a Christmas gift like that...being a jobless uni student really takes that away :(...enjoy that rifle

from myself . yahoo!!

WTF is that an underfolder for the CZ 858??

i should take a pic with natural light cos the flash is making it more purple then it really is .

the lower HG for a chinese AK , i posted it before , search DIY.

I would be interested in knowing if that flash hider increases muzzle blast/noise like the brakes do. The gun looks great though. I love the furniture. The cheek rest looks a little cheezy.

Nice rifle! To be honest, I'm not sure WHY they went with bluing on these ones... why would anyone complain about the hard-as-eff epoxy like paint that was on the previous batches? It was tough, looked good, and didn't rust. I know Marstar said they went with bluing 'by request', but I'm baffled as to who would have requested this.

I am sort of torn. I bought laurel mountain rust bluing solution. I sort of dig the plum, but there are scratches on it and curiosity that have got me thinking about doing it.

i didnt mind the plum color before but now i really like it bcos its different and easily distinguishable from the other VZ58s. after all thats the real reason why i bought it and waited 2 long years for.

i fixed the multi color simply by changing the mag. i think it looks better with a 20 rounder painted black.

i will post pic later .

That furniture does nothing for me at all.

As long as it works for Curtton, that's what matters. Its like building a hot rod - you build what YOU like, not what you think others might think is cool. Well, if you're doing it properly, that is.

I think its nifty;)

But I'm cheap, so I'll get 4 or 5 more SKSs instead!

here it is.

Hey Curtton,

Definitely an upgrade in finish. Did you bleach it or just oil it? The match on the buttstock is a little off. I wonder if a re finish on that would make it closer or not. Can you tell us how your shortened the mag and give us a review of function if you test it?
