DIY smelly scope mount

So about 30 years ago this was given to me as you see it, without the scope. The stock was hand made by my friend who didn't want to take it on his move to the US. It shot well with the original sights when my eyes were younger. Anyway here's a few pics that explain the easy process. Drill and tap 3 holes, cut a chunk of Weaver rail, make up a few shims, dig up a pair of old Zee rings and bingo.

I'll take it to the range monday or Tuesday and report back, also it will be my first use of the Caldwell Stinger. Looking fwd to that too.
 
My one rifle has those holes too and I have the Parker Hale mount that fits them bit if you ever seen the mount is got no grooves for the ring bolts. Have to keep looking for pieces of rail.
 
Improvement over the original Weaver dovetail mount it was tapped for. The single screw in the rear bridge is the weak point.
