I figured I would post this here as I am unsure if anyone has done this before. Before I got my Tavor I ordered a QD sling thinking that the mounts on the Canadian tavor would be the same as all the American ones I had seen on youtube.
Upon realizing we had a completely different sling mounting setup on our canadian version, I took to putting paracord through the rear Hole and then tying my Sniper Savvy sling to this knotted mess for a time. As well as tying the front to the Hook portion just to the rear of the charging handle.
I finally gathered up the courage to make an attempt at fixing this problem once and for all, and here's how it went:
Materials used:
1/2" Drill Bit
QD Cup (I used Magpul sling mount kit Type 3) Thanks One Stop Tactical
Drill (Drill press preferred, I don't have one)
rubber or wooden mallet
thread lock
caliper
* ignore the wood burner, I had another idea but this one ended up working better without its use.
First I measured to see if after drilling the inside section of plastic in the tunnel of the rear hole there would be damage to the inside portion of the stock.
It seemed as through there would be more than enough material to hold the cup in place after drilling so I preceded.
Checking fitment
More Drilling
Drilling....
A little damage on the inside of that portion, but once hammered into place the Cup fills that out.
This process doesn't affect the trigger housing area.
The bolt centered in the tunnel.
Hammered into place. It fits completely snug with no wiggle. I also screwed the nut onto the portion of the bolt that protruded into the cup, for additional security.
I love how it turned out, it's solid and finally allows me to run the Tavor the way I prefer.
I've got a SAR Sling Swivel Attachment Kit on order to replace the front hook, but for the time being I am running a Cadex QD mount.
Hope this helped anyone who's tired of that paracord sling setup on their
