So I'm on the hunt for a shorter barrel for my 870. Mainly going to be a camp/hiking bear defense gun. Anyone ever used the 870 barrels manufactured by Dlask? I know there is other options out there, but I really want to go with a 14'. As far as I can see any Remington 14' that pops up on the EE is rather expensive. I have also yet to find a company selling 14' hp9 barrels. So Is it worth the 300$ to go the Dlask route?

Any info helps! Thanks :D

Just for the record, that should be 12" and 14". You are talking about 12 and 14 FOOT long barrels. If nothing else, you could club the bear to death with it. ;)

As for the Dlask barrels, I have heard many proclaim them to be pry-bar heavy.

Lol I didn't even realize that, thanks for the correction :p. Thats interesting, maybe I could call and make a trip to their shop, if they allow that, and take a look in person. Thanks for the info guys!

I have a 12.5", its much thicker than even a Police profile barrel and far too heavy for what it is. On the other hand it patterns nicely and seems to have somewhat of a lengthened forcing cone as a standard feature.

If I had to do it again I would have went with something else, and maybe avoided really short barrels altogether as they're really loud and blasty and not all that much handier in the woods.

Anyway CanadaAmmo has beaded regular looking profile 12.5"s for a good price; http://www.canadaammo.com/product.php?productid=283&cat=0&page=1

What's wrong with the finish? Mine is finished as well as the factory Police barrel.

Just received an email back from Casey at Tacord. He says all the 14" barrels he has are being used to be Van Comp'd. The price point is about 500$. Does anyone have experience with the Van Comp'd barrels? Looks and sounds like a very interesting system.
