well finally got to go out to get acquainted with my latest baby :)

With a Remington plastic stock the OAL is 29 inches so there's lots of room legal wise. ( added a better remington recoil pad but that's it so far) . i eyeballed the stock length to a knoxx specops stock and it looks like it might have an inch to spare with the latter. but will have to mount it to confirm.

The mag is tube is cut down and will hold two 3-inch shells but three 2 3/4 shells

I & a couple of others (mostly me) ran 50 hi velocity $42 a flat el cheapo winchester rounds through. Recoil with this ammo and some muzzle climb (but not much) is there - a little less than with a normal length shotgun friing slugs. Recovery time is quite fast. The foreend is a 3 position rail so i used a folding foregrip and some rail covers ( rail gap fillers, actually) on the rail sides. even a complete newby (with careful coaching on how to hold it) fired a shot and had no issues. loudness was there but not all that bad. There is a nice flame visible even at 3 in the afternoon on a sunny day. It seemed to handle better for me with the foregrip handle in the folded position but this grip was quite loose in the open position. so will try with another

Rapid fire worked well with some stiff extraction due to the crappy ammo ( which does the same thing in the 5 other shotguns that i've tried it in).

The gun balances and handles like a dream and has to be experienced to be believed - feels like a feather. The finish is very high quality.

I will be testing the gun with various chokes including a colonial arms compensated one and federal buckshot & slugs once they arrive. I'm also anxious to run some chrony tests but I suspect the velocity reduction compared to a 14 or 18 incher will not be all that much - we'll see

Choke tests on an 8 inch barrel?....why?
Three reasons

1 try out the compensators to see how the recoil is affected
2. same as with a longer barrel to try & determine how the effective range is affected. especially with slugs to see what happens to the grouping.
3. jsut to add to my general knowledge.

Simon yes i'll be trying out the single point sling plate to see how it balances and handles. shoukld be fun to see since the balance point is quite a bit different form a regular longer barrelled S/G

Thanks John, I just figured the shortness of the barrel would offset any benefit the choke would give, but the more I think of it, I could be wrong. I have tried vented chokes on regular length target shotguns and even though they claim that they reduce muzzel jump and reduce recoil, I found I couldn't tell the difference. There may be a beneficial wad stripping effect though, and they look cool.
Post pics!

Question on length of magazine spring

Did you have to change length of tube-magazine spring when installing 8.5 " barrel?

How was the ratio of length of shortened spring to length of original spring and how much was the original spring long?

thanks.

Ok guys & gals . took pics & tried uploading them to Hunt101 but they were over 500KB so the site wouldn't allow them. Sent them to Repete who cropped them but that was late last night & I haven't gotten them back yet. as soon as this happens I'll put them up or maybe Repete will directly...

"Believe it or not officer this is completely legal and Non-Restricted... get your hands off of me!!"

Heheheh... I like it.
