Well how do they work?
Recoil?
Muzzle flip?
Effective range, pepper poppers, pins?
I'm thinking of getting either the 14" or the 12.5".
Anyfeed back would be appriciated.

I bought the 14" barrel...

It fit my 870 perfectly...

I have only shot slugs...

I totally recommend the 14" barrel...

Turned my 870 into an extremely fast handling shotgun...

If I would have bought this barrel before I bought my Marlin 1895GS 45-70 I may not have bought the Marlin...

Go for it...

I bought the 14" barrel that was on the exchange last week. Put it on the sotgun yesterday, very nice fit, looks great and handles great too. Off to the range tomorrow and then to the smith to install the rear ghost sight! This barrel is threaded for rem chokes so it will be interesting to see how it shoots different loads of shot.

I was watching a few minutes of a Stephen Sagall (ok I know I spelt his name wrong) movie on TV last night and they were running around with pistol gripped shoulder stocked 20" barreled shotguns.

I kept thinking how awesome it would be to have Dlask 8.5" barreled shotguns instead.

I got to the range with mine again the other day what an fantastic little gun, shooting with the shoulder stock on you couldn't miss the target @ 20 yards and very rarely missed at 10 yards shooting it from the hip.

Yeah Baby these are great guns for any kind of defense you need...

My Avatar shows me shooting the 12.5" Dlask barrelled gun at 15m.
5 poppers in a under 3 seconds...they didn't have a chance :) Have shot three round cloverleafs at 25m from a backpack rest. I have had both the 12.5' and 14" barrels and my personal preference is the 14" because I can put a +1 Dlask extension on as well. Both make the gun feel so much shorter and quicker handling. Ballistically you are looking at about 25 fps difference. Both are too short to put a folder on and meet the magical 660mm OAL.
Recoil is not that much more (I have been called a recoil mutant since I don't feel it) but noise and muzzle flash is increased. I took my 14" to a training institute and they liked it so much they didn't want to give it back :) Overall IMO they make a great all-round utility/defence gun.

Cheers

I like the Dlask barels but the only gripe i have is they are quite heavy.I know they are built well and solid.I sold both my Dlask barels and stuck with the Norinco 14 inch barel on my Marine Mag.Might not be built as well but it sure is lighter.

I like the wieght of them, it helps counter muzzle flip....also the first gen models I have were so thick that you had to sand inside of some forestocks to get the action to cycle, not a big thing but they weren't always 'plug and play' without a few minutes of work. I think Joe recontoured them a bit to avoid the problem.

Are these barrels readily available from Dlask or what? Pricing?

The Dlask website is not updated, but the Sept. issue of Canadian Access to Firearms, page 37, has a half-page advertisement. (http://www.canadianguns.com/)

The barrels are there (@$299. for the 12.5" and 14"). Lots more scary-looking black stuff too.
