I may have the opportunity to pick up a used NR Bushmaster ACR with a Dlask Arms barrel.

I have been hearing that they have gas issues and need to be ran on "S" setting.

Can any owners of a Dlask ACR give me some insight on this issue?

If it has over pressue issues on "U" mode, does it work fine on "S" setting? Because I could live with always using it on "S" if it works fine that way.

Mine runs 100% on the "s" setting, but is overgassed on the "u" setting. To make myself feel better I just think of the "s" as "standard gas" and the "u" as "ultra gas".... could use "u" if the gun is filthy and stops running on "s", I suppose!!

Hearsay out on the street was that they are AR barrels, thus the gas port is oversized to be utilized in a piston gun.

I don't have one to measure but it should be like .040" instead of .078 or whatever is on a midlength DI gun.

I'll bet that Dlask just took a midlength barrel and specs and cut it to 18.75" or whatever.

I think it was the Dlask barrels that were just AR barrels with a cut for the op rod guide. They are severely overgassed to the point it causes failures. The simple "fix" is to run it with the regulator in the S (suppressed) position to reduce the amount of gas making it to the piston.

I am not 100% sure it was the Dlask barrels though, there were a few guys trying to supply barrels to the guys who couldn't afford the Herron Arms treatment but some of them did not do any research and didn't realize that just because it fits the rifle it wasn't built for the gas system.
Arms East barrels are supposed to be good, I know a couple guys that bought them and they were accurate and reliable.

I've owned 2 ACR's and currently own one NR stainless barrel sold by Questar in 223 with a Wylde chamber that runs great, I also have a NR stainless 300 Blackout barrel I built for it that runs great.
I had a 6.8SPCII stainless barrel for it which I sold after I got it cycling but the guy I sold it to had issues with it in his rifle, not really sure why that happened but it was a weird one.

Not sure of your rifles current status but just remember that if it's restricted installing a non restricted barrel does not instantly allow you to take it out to the bush. It needs to be inspected by a certified firearms verifier and then you need to wait for the CFO to take it off the books before it is actually a non restricted rifle.
And don't let the wishful thinkers convince you that there is a 30 day grace period where you can switch it back and forth and do whatever you want. I spoke to the CFO when I was converting mine and they said if the rifle is currently registered as restricted the 30 day period is for you to take it to the verifier and get the paperwork done. Until the CFO actually removes it from the registry it is still classified as restricted and can only be used at a range.

if you buy a dlask barrel, make sure you put it on S when shooting.
They got the gas port wrong, over drilled, but on S setting it works fine, at least for me and cobra.

Do you think it could cause any damage to it if it was fired on "U" setting? Just wondering in case the previous owner may have fired it on "U" and damaged something. Or will it only result in a jam with no lasting damage to the gun?

They're severely overgassed on the U setting.
Get him to send you pics showing the inside of the receiver and back of the bolt carrier. If it's mashed up I wouldn't buy it.
It's probably fine though, just make sure to ask for pics if you can't inspect it in person first.

Don't over pay though, those are cheap barrels, not worth the premium a Herron barrel gets.

You'll love the ACR, other than being a little heavy they are a fantastic rifle.

I had one by Dlask (ACR purchased at CSC). I remember the gas ports were off and had to be resend to Dlask at no charge.

The barrels are not Dlask but Green Mountain AR mid length medium contour barrels. $500 if I remember correctly.

Is there a downside to running it on "S" setting? Seeing as we'll never have a silencer in canada I don't see the downside. And it gives you an option for extra gas in the event of it being excessively dirty, cold, low on lube, etc.

How do owners find the reliability and accuracy of the Dlask ACR conversion?

If you like running your ACR on the S gas setting, then yah go with a Dlask barrel.

What exactly was wrong with yours? How did you know the gas port was off?

What do you think is a fair price for a Dlask barreled ACR?
