Ok, so i put the AK slant muzzle brake on my CSA 7.5" compact.

Now I was shooting good @ 50 yards with just the thread protector on the muzzle and decided to give it a go with the slant brake.

I fired maybe 30 rounds or so and they were all 2-3 feet maybe even higher with the slant brake on then with the thread protector. Even though I was still aiming center to the target. The shots were going well above it.

Is this normal with the slant brake, or could it be because it is on the 7.5" with such a short barrel??? Shouldnt really make a difference I figure but again the bullets were several feet above the whole target.

WTF....

I have another one on a 15.5" CZ rifle that I havent been able to try out yet but am really hoping this doesnt do it with the rifle either!

Any input guys would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You will usually get POI shift with all muzzle devices. I didn't get that large a POI shift with the slant comp on my 12 incher, but all rifles will be different.

With the shorter barrels you are moving the same volume of gas in a smaller volume vessel. Perhaps gas uncorking happens sooner, and this may cause more shift with muzzle devices that don't direct gas away from the bullet. I could be wrong though.

Devices like the Dlask XB3 would be perfect on these little carbines to tame flash. It may also tame a bit of blast as secondary flash can/may create an additional shock wave.

i tried a slant break on my full size 858 and my csa carbine , it changed my point of impact way high and left like a good foot!!! they completely screw accuracy on a VZ type rifle... they were meant to improve accuracy of full auto fire on a AKM rifle but even the russians did away with it very quick .. i know the standard Czech muzzle break that comes with the CSA rifles does not change point of impact at all .. i really like it but its loud as hell..

No, they are not just for looks.:) You can adjust your sights to compensate for the shift. Many AK's shoot just fine with a slant muzzle brake.

if you have ever seen a real AK slant break it looks alot different than the dlask VZ slant break.. the AK one is longer and shaped a bit different ,, it screwed my POI so bad it would max out the adjustment on my front site to try to zero it with that stupid thing ,, waste of $30 in my book..

That is what I am thinking now. May do some fine tuning to see if it can work out but not looking to good right now in my books

You said it put your shots a foot high and left. That should not make your front sight run out of adjustment.

Yes, I know the Dlask unit is different. It's different, because they made it better.

A foot or so, I think it was more like 2-3 feet not left just straight up.

What should I do to compensate, bring the front sight all the way up or what??

Sorry Clobb, just saw that you posted this for BCviking

thats just a estimate but i can tell you the POI was off so much i could not bring the front site post up high enough without it falling out to bring my POI down to zero at 100m .. it was mechanically impossible ..

s**t, I think the blast is much worse on the 7.5" with no brake then with the slant one.

It would be worse....slightly anyway. The slant brake redirects gas upwards and away from you, depending on how you clock it. It's not really a brake, it's more of a comp. Try it with a true muzzle brake, that will wake you up in the morning! I recommend using plugs and muffs if you do! :D

Weird, never had that happen to me. What setting was your rear sight on?

my rear sight was set at 100m and i was shooting at 100m trying to zero .. all i can say is you dont want anything on any rifle that affects your bullet trajectory in that way ,, its bad for accuracy lol

what barrel length was this on?? 12" CSA or what??

i tried to zero my CZ858 18.5 with the slant break it was impossible so i put it on my 11.5 CSA and could not even hit paper anymore ! so im done with it , it was not meant to be on a VZ ,, I will give it away for free if someone wants it , just pay me the shipping
