Hi All,

I too have recently been bitten by the AR bug...

Do you all have a collective opinion about the Dlask Arms DAR 701 rifles? If so, I'd like to hear it.

Thanks, Jeff/1911.

Personally, if I was in the market for an AR I would pick up a Stag arms from armseast as opposed to the DAR701. I do have a dlask lower receiver on my AR and that has worked great for me FWIW.

My Dlask Arms AR is en route, because the only thing that will piss off a Liberal more than a black rifle is one that says "Made in Canada" on it.

Even Remington has said that Canada is a trivial part of their market ... do you think Stag Arms cares enough to support Canadian gun owners?

I agree, Canada is a small market, we should support those who offer goods and services in Canada :)

Recieved My Dlask 701-m4 last week , very nice can forward picts if you want, i have no complaints, nice guys to talk to or e-mail, get right back if e-mailed very prompt,

Does anyone know if Dlask magnafluxes (mp tests) their bolts or any part of their AR's? I know they get the barrells from elsewhere, are the barrels mp tested too?

I just order a Stag Arms from ArmsEast. I have the Gun digest book of The AR-15 by Sweeney. He tested the Stag Arms and he basically says that a Stag Arms AR is as close to a Colt as you can get with out buying a Colt. Apparently Stag Arms is a branch off of a company that has been making AR components and other DOD stuff for over 30years. I guess they rebuild and refurbish(sic?) a lot of the US M4s and supply parts to other manufacturers including Colt.
I had considered a Dlask, wanting to support a Canadian company, but couldn't justify the price difference. $1495 Stag with detachable carry handle vs $1725 plus whatever the carry handle costs at Dlask.
2 great rifles but at least a $355 dolllar difference - Ouch!
(Stag makes left handed models too)

Just FYI, $1725 includes the detachable carry handle, from Dlask. Yes it is definetly more expensive, especially when I take into account that I'll be paying both taxes, living in BC. By the way, the difference between the prices you quoted is $230. To me, the price was worth it to support a Canadian company ... unless I'm mistaken, the only Canadian company that makes "black rifles" for civilians. I also like the idea that warranty service, if necessary, doesn't require shipping the gun across the border, a practice which is only going to become more and more difficult (mostly thanks to American laws).

A little too late, but Dlask has a sale in December for his DAR-701 (M4 config with 14.5" barrel) with A2 upper for $1500.

it was actually a really nice gun and comes /w the railed handguard.. i saw it at the range.... its their newer lowers /w the markings rolled in instead of lasered in like my older dlask AR lower...

why not just call them to see if they still have the deal...

I asked already. They don't. Asked about when/if this might come about again. The first time I mentioned it, Joe shrugged.

A few days later I was talking to another guy there. He said in the few years he's been there, that's the first time he's seen such a sale. Too bad....

The price difference figuring the taxes and reasonabl shipping cost is about $300. Not a huge amount, about 20% the cost of the Stag.

I usually buy local to ensure stores are around me when I need them, but $300 might make ppl think twice. Esp. if you're trying to get a pass from the wife in the first place.

Hey HR, I think you were looking at mine! I recall another shooter commenting on the rolled markings on my DAR-701 as opposed to the laser etching on an older dlask.

nice to meet you, need to get out to more CGN events... and put some faces to IDs

Does any one have any hands on experience with the model DAR-701-1?
This model costs more then the m4 model. Is is worth it?
What are the Pros vs. Cons?

Any help or insight would be great.

BUY DLASK SUPPORT CANADA!!

I was this close to buying DLASK... (from here -> <- to here), but in the end I decided to go with RRA :D

I am saving a lot by doing so, but the wait time is longer.

If Dlask was just a little more competitive for pricing I'd be all over them myself. I wanted an AR that said made in Canada on it :)

its kinda hard to say.. what is worth it to me may not be worth it to you, there is nothing spectacular about the dlask, it works the same as RRA/STAG/DPMS.. fit and finish is also very similar..

BUT if you want "Made In Canada" or if you want a custom serial number as is my case, then you have no choice but to go the Dlask route, for it me WAS worth it... but someone else might rather save the couple of bucks and buy other accessories instead.... its really up to the person...
