I have an 870 with a 14" Dlask bbl and just picked up a Surefire forend. I know the Dlask bbls are thicker then the factory specs.

Has anyone had to trim their forend to work with the Dlask bbl? Where/how did you remove the material? I don't want to jump in with a Dremel blindly and destroy this forend. Thanks for your help.

I just received a 14" from North Eastern Arms and have the same issue with the Remington plastic forend. I haven't removed any material yet, but I intend to use some 150 grit sandpaper on a sanding block to carefully remove just enough to work the action without binding. No Dremels!

Actually, the factory barrel has about 1/8" clearance, and the forend does have some side-to-side motion, so I don't think the clearance is critical. I just don't want to go back to the factory barrel and have a huge gap.

I just finished mine and the action is smooth as silk now.

I used 200 grit sandpaper. The area that needed the most material removed was under the barrel. I sanded everywhere in the foregrip and left it dirty then put it back on and cycled the action. It showed where the barrel was rubbing and made the process really easy. The material surefire uses is really nice to work on with sandpaper. I am glad I left the dremel in it's case.
