I purchased a Dlask 14.5" DAR-701-4 recently. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, because when I received it it was not up to my standards for a $2000 gun. When I initially received it, it looked like this:
I returned it to have the front site changed for a standard one, because the funky Dlask one ... well, it just doesn't look right, and it's not authentic like I wanted. They replaced that, no questions asked, so now it looks like this:
I have since returned it again, though, because during replacement of the front site, they took a chip out of one of the rails on the handguard, and because the handguard was not properly aligned. I expect they'll be shipping it back to me tomorrow, and I'll come back and update my comments once I get it back. As I said, I haven't shot it yet, so my comments don't include function, but I will say this: their machining seems excellent. The individual parts of the gun appear to be very nicely made, and I have no complaints at all about the lower. My concerns are more about their attention to detail in assembly, and their lack of attention to my stated concerns the first time I sent it back - had they paid more attention to my comments, the handguard issue could have been corrected then.
If you are going to buy something from them, I would advise careful, detailed discussion with them about exactly what parts you want, and how you want it put together. If I were buying a complete rifle from them again, I would ask for a picture of the finished product before it was shipped. Right now, though, I would have no hesitation in buying individual parts from them - especially those parts unique to Dlask, like short barrels.
I will reserve further judgement until I get it back and get a chance to shoot it.
