Edited August 15, 2009 - Include picture of latest incarnation.

So I'm in the market for a new AR-15 rifle of the M4 variety.
Do the whole internet search thing about Canadian manufacturers as the states no longer exports the toys I want to play with.

Read up about Dlask Arms and get varying opinions on the workmanship. Usually its from somebodies uncle's -- sister-in-law's -- newphew's -- friend's -- little sister's --- pet dog that bought this rifle and it was of questionable quality.

After visiting his shop late last year and having come away from my visit very impressed with the quality of the firearms I was able to inspect - I decided to ignore the internet chatter I had read about and placed my order.

After a bit of a wait (I told him I wasn't in any rush) Canada post dropped this off at my doorstep a few days ago. (Note - haven't had time to clean off the oil from the gun).

It is a work of art!

Looks like this now.......

From what I can tell the it and finish of the firearms is equal or exceeds that of an H&K. (For those that are choking on the Doritos they were munching on you might just want to skip to the last five or six photos in this posting).

Lifting the gun out of the box -- its weight tells you it is a substantial piece.
I'm not one to get excited over a bunch of metal but I have to admit I was a bit taken back by the intensity of my emotions the first time I inspected it.

Upper and lower halves fit perfectly with NO PLAY between them. Pins are snug and can be pushed out by hand but there is zero play between them.

The trigger is crisp with about 1/16" take up -no second stage creep and a surprising "click" when you least expect it. Dry firing it days later and still am surprised by the trigger pull. Actuation of charging handle is clean without the gritty feel of metal on metal and engaging safety is very crisp with postive indents. Engaging the safety is just as easy as releasing it as a simple "flip" sends the lever to safe. Best way of describing it is once actuated it feels like a magnet is pulling it into the correct postion. Again, not so impressive when taking it off safe (when you have your entire thumb on it) but appreciated when moving and trying to "flip" the safety up with just the tip of your thumb.

Features include free floating handguard, "tactical" triggerguard, single point sling, Gas buster charging handle with "tactical" latch, and flash surpressor. Tactical carry handle isn't shown.

I've included numerous pictures - Please note that the oil as well as my camera settings (played with them to the n'th degree) don't do the firearm justice. It's probably best summed up by my 12 year old who upon completion of his inspection commented that he really didn't want to get it dirty by shooting it. This from a kid who has no problem unloading as much free ammo from dad that he can get his hands on. I am for once completely in agreement with him. Think I might just hold off a bit on the first trip to the range........

Enjoy

You know, I really don't like that style of flash hider. It looks like a... teeny tiny... rifle grenade launcher or golf ball launcher.

I like the rest though :)

Also, why would you HOLD OFF a range trip? Sweeeet Jeeeeeessus.

I'm thinking he should extend the back of it to cover the barrel so it looks like a silencer - proportions would be better.

Cause I've got a M-4 Norinco to beat the crap out of and I'm waiting to figure out what type of optics to put on it......

 Wow! Beautiful rifle and made in Canada.

I've been planning on picking up a Sabre Defence M4 configuration due to high-quality fit & finish, but will now look at these before doing so.

What is the price, if you don't mind me asking?

Cheers.

I think many people would opt out of that kind of flash suppresor to avoid any potential issues with the law.

And what potential issues with the law would we be talking about?
Looking like a silencer and acting like a silencer are two different things.:)
A couple of holes near the front sight on the faux "supressor" would negate any worries that it was actually reducing the sound signature.

Well even the threading coming to the very end of the fake suppresor would be fine. It's merely that LEO might think it's a real suppressor and question you about it, and at worst potentially confiscate the item for testing (including your rifle).

Avoiding potential issues, because we're all criminals just waiting to be unleashed right?

I have to agree that type of flash hider is best suited on the AR shorty's (10.5/12.5 etc.), I believe that was the original idea for those type of flash hiders..... Other then that the rig looks great....

That is what I was led to believe as well. However, I am more concerned with function than looks. My ten year old daughter has decided to move up to a centrefire and I figured it should help reduce the recoil a bit and cut down on the "bark". Its also an excuse to try some field testing between it and a normal flash suppressor to see just what the advantages are. To be honest I wasn't thrilled with its look at first but over time the more I've looked at it the less I'm noticing it (hope this makes sense).

Looks great, they are nice rifles and DLASK makes good gear.

I would suggest a vortex or other type of flashhider in that rifle. DLASK had those as well as Phantom one sin last time I was there.

I like the MADE IN CANADA too.

Nice rifle, should of cleaned it for the pics though :)

As another member said...mind sharing the final price? I am in the market for an AR and haven't really considered DLASK or where they are sold.

Thanks

Whats up with the golf ball luncher?
HAHA, just jk.
I think the fake flaming pig would look better on a shorty. A regular birdcage would look better on this in my opinion. But never the less, it does make yours stand out for sure.
BTW, nice HK upper!

And they are still using roll pins for the FSB.....sigh.

I hear ya! My neighbor's sister's nephew's teacher's dog breeder knew a guy who has his AR15 FSB installed with roll pins. Ten years later he went down to the gun safe to grab the rifle and BAM! Herpes. Taper pinned is the only way to go...
