Just wondering if you guys had ever thought of building a 22 wmr version of your Dlask DAR 22? With the high prices that have come with the Ruger version being discontinued...seems like it might be a worthy venture. If anybody else might be interested in one of these please chime in!

They build the DAR 22 because it accepts readily available 10/22 parts.

They would have to build the bolts, springs, etc to make this work no?

I don't think the parts are gonna be readily available like with a 10/22...

They probably would not be interested in the small market for a semi 22wmr, however even with Ruger discontinuing the 22wmr version of the 10/22 many years ago not is all lost. Today Volquartsen and Magnum Research both make refined versions of that rifle. Pricey but available. If simply a semi 22wmr is desired there is also the Tanfoglio Appeal, Savage A22 and CZ 512.

Out of curiosity, did Ruger discontinue those things because of how fussy the action had to be be to work properly? I mean, doesn't the Savage A17 not need it's special ammo tuned to that action? I could be wrong, but I thought that to get a 10/22 to use .17HMR or .22WMR the machining and such had to be so exact and would be so ammo fussy that Ruger decided the machining and warranty claims combined were too much. If that is the case maybe that is why they have not made the DAR in 22WMR and left the alternatives to others.

Ruger dropped it because they couldn't overcome reliability and wear issues related to the higher velocity of the bolt. It was still a straight blow back. The later models to come out from the other makers overcame this by utilizing a gas system in the action. The A17 uses a gas system as well and I believe reliability suffers if you do not use the specific A17 ammo made for it. I don't believe this issue exist with the lower velocity 22wmr in the A22.
