Hi,

a canadian shooter at ar15.com directed me to this forum and suggested to ask you guys about information on the Dlask FF railed handguards.
Originally I would have liked to put a LaRue Lt15-9 midlength railsystem on my AR, but right now it seems to be impossible to buy one in Germany or to have it shipped from the US. So I'm looking for alternatives. In Germany Dlask has a high reputation for making one of the best target 1911 on the market, but I have never seen one of their AR type rifles (DAR701).
Some people on this forum obviously have had some problems with Dlasks customer support, but I'm interested in the quality of the product.
I'll propably visit some relatives in Vancouver in December, so this would be great chance for me to buy some AR accessories including the rail system.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Chris

PS: Is it normal that Dlask does not respond to emails?

Dlask's "mystery manufacture" AR rail systems are hit and miss as far as quality goes, but the one I have on my 16" barrelled AR is not bad. It is heavy and close to milspec, but no cigar. For the money, they're worth it, I suppose.

 Yes, it is normal....although more often than not the silence can be better than the response. ;)

Some people have been quite happy with Dlask's AR's and parts while others have had many problems with out of spec parts.

While I've heard nothing but good in regards to 1911's, they seem to be really hit and miss with the quality control on the rifles.

Nice looking rifle you got there. By "mystery manufacture" you mean the rail systems are not manufactured by Dlask?
Can you tell me if the rails attach to the standard barrelnut or does it use a custom one?
Is there another gunshop in the Vancouver area that stocks AR15 accessories?

Thanks,

Chris

I have been told that a lot of Dlask's products come from off-shore....I'm pretty certain my barrel did. Having said that, my AR is very, very accurate off the bench at 100yds.

I've put many thousands of rounds through my rifle, with no issues whatsoever. It's a Dlask lower, RRA upper with Dlask barrel & rail, Armalite innards.
I can't remember how the rail attaches...I'll have a look and let you know.

Edited to add: Ok...I had a look and it looks like it uses the standard barrel nut which secures the rear of the rail's adaptor nut.

Ah off-shore. If this has the same meaning in Canada as it has in Germany, we are talking about a country where people prefer eating with chop-sticks.
If that's true, I just hope that Dlask has a good quality control. A lot of parts my brothers company had machined in China had to be rejected due to quality problems.

if you are coming to Vancouver make sure to PM me and we'll get you out to the range to play.

The quad rail handguard was the most disappointing part of my Dlask AR in terms of fit and finish. I would recommend buying an American made "milspec" part of more assured quality. Buy it from Canada, if there's difficulty exporting such parts from the US to Germany.

I'll certainly do that. It's allways fun to experience the shooting conditions in other countries.
Is that range located in Chilliwack?
Do you know of any gunshops in the greater Vancouver area that stock AR15 accessories? (I'm still looking for a match trigger and railed ff handguards)

Thanks,

Chris

I'm killing this thread right here.

It is ILLEGAL to forward parts coming into Canada from the USA for use in Canada to a third party country -- this is the MAIN reason why the US DOS is so pissed at Canada.

One will need a NEW DPS-83 for export out of Canada for the American made part. As such it is easier to try to export intially from the US -- However Canada has been quite lucky and is one of the very very few nations that is allowed any exports of these things.
