I have a dlask adjustable gas lock and dovetail and I seem to have purchase the wrong front sight because my rounds land about 2 feet above my point of aim with the rear sight dropped all the way down. I am guessing I have the wrong front sight and that I require one that has a taller post can anyone give me specifics on what type I need? I must have gotten a sight for the original sight radius I have a trijicon and sei co op.

If the rifle is going to be chopped to 18.75", you might want to call Springfield Arms and
order yourself the "bush rifle" front sight, 11 clicks up equals 100 yards on mine.
You have to call them, it doesn't show up on their website. Order the set-screw too, the Norinco
screw won't work.

True if you were actually sighting down the bore, but if can imagine you were to lay the rifle on its side,
tie a piece of string to the rear sight and run the string line to the front sight and then out to 100yds for the different barrels,
you would see how a seemingly insignificant change in front sight height & barrel length affects point of aim.

Get the SA front sight. I re-barreled my norc with an 18.5. Called up SA and they sent me the front sight. It is taller and it is what you need because your sight radius is now going to change. You could also consider the SEI offerings with gaslock sights.
