So I received my 2 shot mag extension along with the sling attachment yesterday. Nice piece of kit. Mag extension goes on no problem. But the sling attachment seems to be a bit out of wack ( I know that the sling piece goes on first ) I cannot simply slide it over the threads from where the magazine cap would go. I have to insert it at an angle and I can't even get it on that way, it seems way too tight. I tried lightly tapping with a hammer but no joy. I don't want to go harder because I'm afraid of damaging the threads on the gun itself. The simpler the problem the more I am willing to assume it's me that's the problem first. Thought I could get some help here before I call Dlask. Thanks in advance.

There is an Allen screw that keeps it locked on, make sure that is loosened off before you put the sling attachment part on. THe four I have all fit perfectly so I think it is that screw, it tightens up after to keep the cap from loosening.

Yes, it's for a remington 870 Police model. I can't post a pic at the moment, I'm at work unfortunately. Yes I can see that it should slip on smoothly but the top of it (placed for a left-handed shooter) grinds right up against the barrel. There is no space between the top of the sling plate and the bottom of the barrel.

remington have a few different size thinkness on there barrles.
Remmbering that the 870 has been around for 50+ years so you may see this with some parts.
Best thing if you cant get itto fit is to call dlask and ask if they have this problem with other 870,s maybe they have a fix for it.
People had the same issue with the forend not working with 14" barrles they made, and dlask fixed that.

Oh I see, it's the barrel and not the mag tube.
The Police barrels appear to be a little thicker walled than the Express models, but that said they fit perfectly on all the Express, Wingmaster and Police Models I have put them on, including Dlask barrels, Police barrels and Express barrels.
There isn't meant to be a whole lot of clearance there, if it is the same issue with all of the recesses it is likely either the barrel is a little bit larger diameter or the sling plate is a little bit larger. Enlarging is likely the easiest if it still doesn't fit, I would take some wet/dry emory wrapped around the appropriate sized dowel to enlarge the area rather than a file.

As I understand you would be taking some metal out of the portion that fits up underneath the barrel.
Yes, If you use a round piece of dowel or other sanding block shaped to the piece and wet/dry sand paper (the black stuff) it will give a much smoother and more even job that a round file or flat file. At least use the sanding paper to conform to the contour of the part. It shouldn't take too much material removal to get it where you need to go.

most companys that make parts take into account things like fitting, so maybe dlask just missed that on your item you got from them, maybe sent it back to them befor you start working on it.
The item is intended to be drop in on all models from what i remmber reading,so id just ask for another one that fits.

Sounds normal to me. I have 3 Scattergun Tech mag extensions and only one will fit my HP9 without modifying the sling plate.
Same thing happened when we got Scattergun sling plates for our police magnums overseas, some of them ended up being bent when the weapons techs pounded them on instead of filing them to fit. I'm still not sure why they didn't go the whole nine yards and order the two round extensions, but whatever.
