I am going to get my first quality 22lr rifle. I have read tons on many different rifles and will go with one of: Dlask Tuf 22 or CZ 457 (maybe pro varmint model or??) or Bergara BXR.

If anyone has had or shot all three of these rifles, what are your thoughts.

Thanks!

I have a Dlask TUF 22 and a CZ 457 Long Range Precision. If I could only have one .22, it would be the Dlask, because it's fun to shoot and accurate enough to earn a Rifleman patch. The 457, however, is much more accurate.

At 50M the 457 will punch out "ragged-hole" 5 shot groups 70%+ of the time (the remaining 30% blamed on wind, ammo, and lastly, the shooter ;) )
Whereas my Dlask at 50M will only accomplish this ~20% of the time.

The 457 trigger is excellent, and it can be set lighter than I'm comfortable with, while the Dlask's is about 2.5 lb and "decent". In fact I'm going to replace it with a Kidd single stage when I can find one in stock.

But my Dlask is lightweight (carbon barrel) and its magpul hunter ergonomics are excellent. And the Semi-auto has been super reliable, with only some of the slower CCI variants not cycling well.

In summary: In my opinion, if you're going to be shooting from a bench all the time, get the 457. If you're going to be shooting gophers, plinking on the farm with friends AND doing some bench shooting, get the Dlask TUF 22.

I own a Tuff with carbon barrel and I use a friends Bergara with metal barrel. No issues with either. Both are well constructed. The Bergara has a terrible trigger. My Dlask uses a Timney trigger. Plan on spending more for a high quality trigger. At end of day I believe the Bergara is a better deal. Very good quality build and a real nice solid stock.

Are you talking about an "off the shelf" basic Tuff 22 or will you be having it made for you? That's an option the Dlask has but the CZ (as good as they are) doesn't.

I guess I was thinking ordering the off the shelf Tuf 22 with the kidd trigger pack and x-22 stock (as that is getting close to $1,500 including tax). What would you recommend?

I have this gun you describe, with the 12.5 carbon barrel and the two stage Kidd.

Yes, it was $1500 or so by the time it was done... So nice though.. It's the best trigger I've ever used.. Super accurate, shoots anything, it's all super well fitted and feels great.

Get the extended magazine release when you do the build. It extends it to underneath the trigger guard so you can drop the mag with the trigger hand. Kidd makes it, Dlask has a version also.

The whole gun is less then 6 pounds, the short barrel makes it super packable, it's a semi auto, and it's deadly accurate.. Ticks all the boxes you could want.

Thanks for the advice Josh. I will get the ext mag release also then.

Getting close to affording a Dlask Tuf22 with all the options.

But...the more Bergara BXR videos I watch the closer I get to pulling the trigger on one lol.

I have a Dlask TUF, 18.5" carbon steel barrel dlask barrel, dlask bolt, kidd buffer, kidd charging handle and polished guide rod, kidd single stage trigger. It's really well built and it's a lot of fun to shoot. I would not buy any 10/22 without a KIDD trigger though.

I cant say anything about the new CZ, but I have shot and own a few 452s, on average, they are more accurate than my TUF, but not nearly as fun... that TUF really shines in the gopher patch.

I have 2 of the 3 you have listed.

My Dlask TUF22 is a great gun. I run it with a KIDD bolt, Timney Trigger, IBI barrel, in an Oryx chassis is shoot lights out. My main complaint (and this is more about the 10/22 rather than the Dlask) is trying to get a second crack on a light strike is problematic in competition. Other than that, super happy with the build.

My CZ 457 20" MTR is also a fantastic gun. My main gripes with CZ have always been super minuscule and all personal preference. I've never been a fan of dovetails for a scope base, and that was always my main stumbling block with the CZ rifles. I run an MDT 20 MOA base on it and its solid combo; I always worry about the dovetail slipping for some unknown reason. Also, mine came with the extractor and cartridge guides installed reverse of what they should be in, and in the beginning, I was having strange extraction issues, but once I got that sorted, it's been great.

My CZ has become my go-to since it's a lot closer to my precision bolt guns, but both are solid choices!

If you have a few moments whenever to pm me a bit more on the extraction issues you had and how exactly you solved them, that would be really appreciated

I don't think you can really go wrong with any of the recommendations. Some czs will shoot right with the Annies but with the Annies you have a better chance of getting a great shooter. The tuf22 with kidd barrels are great shooters and definitely popular in the 22 prs. I've thought about getting a bergara b14r carbon just to try out as I love shooting rimfire and you can never have too many 22s

I have a couple anschutz that are in that price range and they are amazing shooters and if you look at the my 22 shoots 1/2" thread there are a lot of anschutz model 64s on the list

The only downside of the Annie's is lack of after market parts. Does Anachutz build some of the highest quality and most accurate. 22s on thr market? Absolutely! But the reason why CZ, Tikka, Vudoo, Bergerac, etc are so popular now, is because you can get after market triggers, and stocks and chassis and 20 moa and 30 moa rails, etc. Anschutz is still old school and doesn't really offer such yet...

My Annies came factory with a 6ish ounce triggers that have zero creep. I don't think there is a need for an aftermarket trigger when the factory trigger is that good. There are a few companies making rails for Annies as well
