On Dlask's website they have a wicked looking breaching attachment
for the 870 shotgun under the "What's New" category.

Is the spikey edge so it can be pushed against a door and then the gun fired?
These thread on, I assume? Cost?

Looks very Mad Maxesque.

Yes, they are used with breaching rounds that are loads with something like lead dust.

It's a copy of one that made in the US I had senn a couple of years ago.

RePete.

Royal Arms is the place that has them in the US and Repete is correct in that the Dlask one looks the same. There is another variation that will also cut re-bar. I have installed quite a few of these on 870's - they requirre the barrel to be threaded.

The Dlask one is different. The holes are angled slightly forward to vent the gas forward instead of out the sides.

I have one of the Royal Arms re-bar cutters here and they also have the rear two rows of holes angled forward.

You would be a brave man to press the barrel against some rebar and pull the trigger. You guys may know better, but I would think there is the potential for metal to go flying in any direction. Any links to videos of someone actually doing this?

I dont know for the dlask but the TacOrd breacher thread is .824 x 40
I was thinking instaling that breacher whit locktite or spot weld it to meet the 26" regulation on my 14" Norc + folding stock. Anybody know if this is legal???

the shot shell is loaded with sintered copper or steal. no sure which put it is a powdered and form metal.

when the gun is fired the energy from the shot hits the target and turns to dust. thats the purpose of the holes. to vent.

you are not supposed to use normal rounds. just breaching rounds.

If it was tack welded/silver soldered or pinned it would be considered a permanent installation and would count towards the OAL.

it doesn't have to be permanent to count for OAL. that is something needed in the states for barrel length.

here you can screw on a 10 shot mag extension and that will count towards OAL. look stupid but would count.

Breaching rounds are called Hatton rounds. I believe there is a slug type round out there too made of ceramic, not sure of the trade name.

Good old slugs or OO work too and are more common. Breachers are typically well armoured of course with eye pro, gloves, helmet, armour etc. I would not recommend trying it without protection. You do get some splash back sometimes especially from smaller barrels.

The problem is that the definition of OAL is up to the interpretation of the firearms techs. If you are dealing with a firearm that is borderline on the OAL issue they will usually make a ruling that is not in your favor and they seem to be harder on issues regarding barrel attachments vs stocks.

You may be able to fight it in court and win but the timeframe/expense inveolved can be extensive. If the attachment is considered permanent then there is no issue and they are much easier to deal with. I have been discussing this with several of the techs for the last 2 months on a similar issue and the permanent attachment solution is the only one they have not been able to argue with.

A small bit of silver solder, a weld, or pin can save you a lot of aggravation.
