I'm trying to decide on what my modern varmiter is going to wear as an end-game optic. I want a lower power variable but at least 6x on the top end, prefer ffp and it must have capped turrets but other than that I'm pretty flexible. I'm currently looking at the leupold mark 8 cqbss or the S&B short-dot. Any reviews on either of these scopes? Any other options I should be looking at? Thanks.

I have the Trijicon TR25. Mildot reticle, true 1-6x, fibre optic green dot illumination that is adjustable, so no batteries. Shooting with both eyes open at 1x is like shooting with my aimpoint. Every person who has looked through this scope has had their jaw drop. Glass is impeccable (I own S&B pmII and say they are on the same plane). It's NOT first focal plane, but you wouldn't want it to be with such low magnification.

Mine currently sits on a 18" Noveske barrelled DMR. Up close, it's a green dot (which is easier to pick up with the eye than red). The dot is less than MOA, so precision is excellent. Having MilDots at 6x allows for precision shooting far out. In my opinion, this is the most versatile AR scope created. Turrets are capped. The only negative thing I can say is that the turrets are mushy when adjusting.
