Simple question for some, I’m sure. I’ve never had an AICS mag for .223 or similar, just .308 and larger.

I have an RPR running Ruger's version of the 223 AI mag and it works fine in that rifle. It does not run properly with MDT mags though... The rounds get vertical in the mag and it's a train wreck every time.
Now I run my rounds about 2.5 inches long... not SAMMI spec 2.25 inches long.... which is the whole point of using AI mags for a 223.
I have a Defiance action on order in 223 that I think will be going into a Cadex chassis, so I hope there will be no issues. When I spoke with Mike at Defiance, he said that he has the exact same thing and has had no issues.
But this KRG looks kinda hot to me so just might go that way instead of Cadex.

I hav a couple MDT polymer mags that I use in a Cadex chassis, and they flip vertical in the mag if you cycle the bolt to aggressively. They are crap compared to the metal AICS mags
I’m gunna be that guy, and bring this thread back from the dead....
I’m building a 223AI, and I’m planning on using a AI compatible bottom metal. I can get the MDT mags for $39.99 or the AI mags for $100. I’ll spend the cash, but if the MDTs work, I can get 5 mags as opposed to 2 on my mag budget....
Anyone out there have experience with the MDT polymer 223 AI pattern mags?
Cheers!
